AERO L-29 DELFIN
Czechoslovak aviation can be proud of this first subsonic jet trainer. It became famous in the Czech Republic and in the world, and that is the reason why L-29 is the legend! This product from the Aero Vodochody factory started the famous series of training jets, which was later followed up with the L-39 Albatros. Until then, only the MIG-15UTI fighter was produced.
The development of the legendary L-29 was led by the designer Ing. Jan Vlček.. The first prototype of the new L-29 flew for the first time on April 5, 1959 and immediately achieved great fame. The two-seat and elegant in appearance trainer jet enabled very good training of combat manoeuvres and, most importantly, was needed for the transition of pilots from propeller planes to jet ones. Until then, this transition was very problematic, as jet fighters have much higher stall and landing speeds. In the competition of the Eastern Bloc, it outperformed the Soviet Yak-30 and the Polish TS-11 Iskra. Serial production ran from 1961 to 1974, during which time an incredible 3,665 aircraft were produced.
The aircraft that will be presented at LEGENDY NEBES has its home base in Slovakia. The pilot will perform the impressive high flying techniques. The L-29 Delfin jet belongs to L29 Delfin s.r.o.
Pilot: Jozef Vaško
