PFALZ E.I.
A German aircraft, but built in France's famous Morane Saulnier factory, as the Morane Saulnier H. The Germans bought the licence from the French to produce them and moved them to the Pfalz factory in 1913. However, the Germans were not the only ones to buy the license, the Czechoslovakian Čihák brothers imitated them in 1914 and started producing the aircraft under the Rapid name.
It was a single-seat light aircraft that was very popular among French pilots. Interestingly, it was initially armed only with the pilots' personal weapons - revolvers and rifles. They came standard with a 60 kW (80 hp) Gnome or Le Rhône engine. The German Pfalz was further developed and a version of the Pfalz E.III was created, which was powered by a nine-cylinder Siemens-Halske SH I engine of 82 kW (110 hp).
Pfalz E.I., which will be presented at LEGENDY NEBES, is a very successful replica in 1:1 scale. It was designed by Vlastimil Vondrášek, who originally built it in the Czechoslovak Rapid version, then moved on to the Morane Saulnier H livery to the current livery with German scheme and characteristic features, including a replica of the Spandau machine gun. This latest transformation took place in 2009 and, in addition to the livery, the wing profile was changed and the engine was replaced with a Rotax 582 of 48 kW (65 hp). The wingspan is 7.6 m (7.6 ft) and the empty weight is 247 kg (247 lb).
